Bad Achub Porthdinllaen
S4C | 6 x 30mins
Llŷn Peninsula’s beaches are amongst some of the most beautiful beaches on earth, but who keeps an eye on the tide?
In this series, we spend a year on board the Porthdinllaen lifeboat; biding adieu to the old boat and sailing home in a new one, meeting the colourful characters that make up the crew and experience the excitement of an unexpected shout and see the crew dash out to sea.
“The lifeboat is a big part of the community in Porthdinllaen; it’s a part of the area’s history,” says Mali Parry-Jones from Morfa Nefyn, a member of the lifeboat’s crew who appears on the series, and who’s also responsible for producing and directing the series.
“My late grandfather came from Pwllheli originally and he was a captain in the merchant navy, and having been born and raised in Morfa I’ve always known the sound of the lifeboat’s maroons as they set off to sea; I guess seafaring’s in my blood.”
