Cyngerdd Awyr Las Rhys Meirion

S4C | 1 x 90minutes

In a gala concert from The Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, international tenor Rhys Meirion joins a host of famous names from the world of entertainment in Wales in aid of two special charities, Cronfa Elen and the Wrth Dy Ochr Charity.

Comedians Tudur Owen and Dilwyn Morgan will introduce a feast of song in the company of Shân Cothi, Rebecca Evans, Bryn Fôn, Eden, Trio, Jade Davies, Erin Meirion, Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir, Cantorion Gogledd Cymru and Denbighshire Youth Choir.

The event will support two charities that are very close to Rhys’ heart. Cronfa Elen is a charity that works to raise the awareness of the people of Wales of the need to discuss organ transplant and donation. The charity was set up by Rhys’ family in remembrance of his sister, Elen, a popular teacher and musician who died in a tragic accident in 2012. The Wrth Dy Ochr Charity was established by Mike Peters, lead singer of rock group The Alarm. The charity provides invaluable support to the people of North Wales who suffer from cancer, an illness that Mike is personally familiar with having twice overcome the illness.
