Seventy two players. Six consoles. one winning team.
A total of 144 Gwynedd schoolchildren from 24 schools took part in a Playstation football tournament during a two-day event of European fun at Bangor City Football Club.
The event, called Gemau Ewrop, was organised by Cwmni Da, Gwynedd Council, Siarter Iaith and S4C and saw BBC Radio Cymru presenter Geraint Iwan host an array of fun activities.
Each of the 24 schools were allocated a different European country and pupils sported the colours of their adopted country. On the first day, pupils sung their country’s national anthem, waved flags, tasted a variety of European dishes and created a huge display in the stadium’s Grandstand. The colourful event was filmed for S4C’s TAG programme.
On the second day, the schools returned to compete for the Gemau Ewrop trophy in a PlayStation tournament organised by Cwmni Da and S4C.
Teams of boys and girls battled it out on the PES 2016 game, featuring Gareth Bale on a Welsh-language sleeve.
Six laptops and capture devices stored the live footage from the 51 games. A special highlights programme presented by Geraint Iwan covered the whole tournament.
