Gêmtiwb
Creating a new generation of Welsh language Youtubers.
An exciting digital project for children aged 7-12 in Gwynedd which proved to be a huge success.
Gêmtiwb has been helping young gaming enthusiasts to create their own Welsh-language video channels on YouTube.
Gemtiwb showcases the videos which have been created at Cwmni Da’s studios in Caernarfon. Each video features a player demonstrating popular console games such as Minecraft and FIFA15.
“We’ve been delighted with the response to the project since it was first launched in April” said Cwmni Da’s Digital Director, Phil Stead. “There is a real lack of Welsh-language channels on YouTube, and this project shows it’s possible to make successful videos in Welsh. It is so much more natural for local children to commentate in their own language and the results have been fantastic.”
First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones said: “Technology is an integral part of our daily lives. That is why it is so important that the latest technology and digital media are available in the Welsh language. ”
