Lleisiau’r Ail Ryfel Byd
S4C | 7 x 60minutes
The history of the Second World War in the words of Welsh men and women who served in it, and lived through it.
In the series Lleisiau’r Ail Ryfel Byd, the experiences of Welsh soldiers and civilians who remember the years between 1939 and 1945 are put on the record.
In 1939 defence measures for the impending war became part of everyday life. Thousands of gas masks were distributed, even in rural areas, and everyone, not only the Royal Observer Corps, was scouring the skies for signs of the Luftwaffe. When war was declared in September, wave upon wave of evacuees arrived in rural Wales. For them, and for everyone else, life would never be the same again.
