Digital suite for Caernarfon’s hyper-local news service
Cwmni Da designed a new website, e-pub electronic edition and iphone app which all help Caernarfon’s popular Papur Dre meet the challenges of the digital age.
The project was the result of Cwmni Da’s success in the ‘Destination Local’ competition run by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) . Our bid was one of only ten winners chosen from 165 entrants from across the UK. Cwmni Da has been worked in partnership with Papur Dre and media students from Coleg Menai to develop the new service. It is now possible to read sample stories from the paper, to view videos , or to subscribe to a digital edition which can be read across any device, including phone, computer or tablet. The e-pub edition is available for free to subscribers for the first 6 months.
Cwmni Da is delivered a series of workshops to Coleg Menai students and mentored the young crews as they created video items which helped form an online news channel.
The website, digital edition and iphone app are all available now at http://www.papurdre.net
