On December the 27th 1989, a plane left the airport at Bucarest. A crew of 6 people and one passenger – Ian Parry, a young photographer from Wales. This was the first plane to leave Romania in a month since the historical events shook the country.
The end of 1989 saw the rise of Romania’s bloody revolution. Over a thousand people were killed in Bucarest alone. Ian Parry intended on returning to London with rare photographs for the Fleet Street newspapers. However, the plane never reached the end of its journey. Ian Parry along with the rest of the crew were killed in the woods of Malinosa. The official explanation said that ice on the plane’s wing caused the accident, but many people believed that it was planned all along in order to kill the photographer and destroy the photographs.
